New customers must visit the office to arrange for water service connection. Renters not having water service with our water system before will be required to pay a $50.00 deposit and homeowners will pay a $25.00 deposit. The security deposit is refundable after twelve months of consecutive timely payments. All customers are required to pay a $25.00 service charge anytime water is connected.

If you are building or buying a home that does not have a water tap, you may purchase a water tap. The water tap-in-fee is currently $1,000.00. This $1,000.00 fee will be for the installation of a 3/4" water tap. We are also required to retain a copy of your sewage permit, with a signature of the sewage enforcement officer. If you are buying a home and the tap has been idle for 1 year or more, a copy of the dye test is required before service is restored to the home. Any additional cost may occur due to road crossings for state and township roads depending upon which side our main water line is located on, so please be sure to talk to our plant manager for additional information. The service line from the tap into the home is your responsibility.

The water meters are read the middle of each month. We do not estimate the meter readings unless it is necessary. When the meters are read, the bill is mailed to you the first of the following month. (Example: In the month of March the meters are read, this is for the water used from the middle of Feb. to the middle of Mar. You will receive the bill for this water use on April 1st.) When you receive your bill the first of the month, our terms require the payment in full by the 15th of that month. You may pay your bill at the office, online, or mail your remittance, call the office to pay over the phone, or pay online at www.eastdunkardwater.com. If you are mailing your water bill it must be received on or before the 15th or you will be assessed the late charge for that bill. Currently the fee is a 10% late fee assessed on the amount of the water consumed that month.

Any account that is not paid in full by the 25th of the same month will have their water disconnected on the 26th of that month. If your water service is terminated, it will not be resumed until the outstanding bill and a $50.00 non-refundable reconnection fee has been paid in full at the office or on our website. Once the men are dispatched to terminate your water service, the $50.00 reconnect fee is automatically added on to the bill whether the water is terminated or left on. No money can be accepted in the field at anytime.

Remember, we cannot pay our bill if you do not pay yours. So, please pay your bill by the 15th of the month.

Currently the rates are $21.10 minimum bill for 0 through 2,000 gallons of water consumption. Consumption above the minimum is billed a rate of $1.05 per hundred gallons thereafter. Per month each customer is charged $5.00 meter fee and $10.00 debt service fee.

If you are moving from your residence or want your water service discontinued for any reason, call or stop at our office to inform us and we will disconnect your service. We will send you a final bill from your final reading. This is very important for you to have us turn your water off. If your move, and do not inform us, a family would move in, and would be using water billed to you and we would not know the difference - we will still be billing you for their water consumption.

The office is open from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Friday. You can pay your bill at the office during these hours. You may also inquire about your bill or discuss any service difficulties you may have during these hours.

Know where your main water shut-off valve is located. If you do not know find it today. Leaks beyond the meter are the responsibility of the customer for both repair and water loss.

Although we make every effort to insure a continual supply of water, main water line breaks do occur. If you do lose water service, be assured that we are making every effort to correct the problem. When service emergencies do occur, we have a company (Swiftreach) that will notify you via the telephone number that you provided us, with a brief message of the problem and what you need to do. A telephone number or web site may be given to you that you can contact for complete details. This public notification system is mandated by PA-D.E.P.

After hours emergency telephone number will be available on our answering machine to report after hour emergencies. After hours telephone number is also posted on the open/close sign posted on the office window. If calling after hours for emergencies, please leave a message on our answering machine and call the emergency number.
